M&M Passion Projects Origins

Melanie Keenan

Hailing from England, Melanie found her heart captivated by the enchanting landscapes and wildlife of South Africa at the tender age of 5. Growing up just a 3-hour drive from the world-renowned Kruger National Park, Melanie's childhood was filled with family holidays that ignited her love for animals in their natural habitat. In 2004, compelled to leave South Africa amidst post-apartheid violence, Melanie found solace in the "lucky country," Australia, all while keeping her passion for travel and Africa ablaze.

Mark Phillips

Mark has cultivated a deep connection to Botswana's extraordinary landscapes and wildlife. Originally from Melbourne, he spent three transformative years in the country, teaching in the village of Tutume and later managing the prestigious Xakanaxa Safari Camp in the Okavango Delta. During his time at the camp, Mark led guests on breathtaking safari drives, immersing them in the beauty and wonder of Africa’s wilderness.

For over a decade, Mark has shared his love for Botswana by organizing unforgettable safari adventures for friends and family. His passion for the region’s vibrant wildlife and rich cultural heritage shines through in every journey, as he strives to create experiences that leave a lasting impression and a deep appreciation for the heart of Africa.

It was during the many hours spent on tour that the concept of M&M Passion Projects took root - a shared vision of submersive tours of the African wilderness on a very modest budget.
